Vitamin D is a hormone which is essential for numerous body functions. Vitamin D is anti inflammatory and helps in auto immune conditions.

Many people think that too much Vitamin D will cause toxicity but as such there is no scientific evidence to prove this.

Sun is the best source for getting Vitamin D through your skin but if one is deficient, taking a supplement of 10,000 IU can take anywhere between 3-4 months to cover the deficiency.

50,000 - 100,000 IU may take 2-3 years for any toxicity like hyper calemia but even that  can cause only kidney stones (no scientific evidence) and drinking 2-3 liters of water can  prevent stones from forming.

Low levels of Vitamin D on the other hand can have serious consequences so make sure you get enough Vitamin D.

Talk to your doctor or health care provider before taking any medications.
