Eat Fat to Lose Weight | VR Healthy Ageing
How do we store fat ?
There is a fat storing hormone and it is called Insulin. As long as your insulin is high the body cannot burn fat. It will constantly store the excess energy as fat.
What triggers insulin is the big question.
Let us be clear about one aspect first. Fat does not trigger insulin. So if you are eating fat, it will have a very minimal impact on insulin.
What triggers insulin is sugar, carbohydrate and frequent eating. It is a myth created by companies for their own gain that you must eat low fat foods like low fat milk, yoghurt and lean cuts of meat.
To lose fat therefore, you will have to accustom your body to start utilising fat as energy.
The only way to do that is to stop sugar, reduce carbohydrates and start eating fewer meals with no snacks in between. I am not asking you to reduce calories. You can eat as much as you like (without overdoing it) and it will become clear soon enough as your body will start signalling satiety (that you had enough).
Be very clear that eating fat does not mean you start eating huge amounts. After all, if you eat excess fat than you need, the body is left with no option but to store it. Remember excess is bad.
Forget about the myth that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. In fact for most people, the easiest meal to skip is breakfast. So if you start eating only lunch and dinner in an 8 hour window, say lunch at 12 pm and dinner at 8 pm, within a few days (or at most a week or two depending on many factors like age, insulin resistance, whether you are diabetic or you have other underlying diseases besides genetic factors), you will realise that your hunger has disappeared. Means you do not get hungry that often. And unlike sugar, which will never let you feel satiated, you will have fewer bouts of over eating.
And the reduction of hunger pangs is the biggest sign that your body is now utilising fat (Ketones) in place of glucose and the ketones are coming from the burning of fat. Fat is a more stable source of energy. It does not make you hungry constantly unlike sugar and carbohydrates which will quickly be absorbed and will make you hungry again within a few hours.
Do not be afraid of eating fat. Just make sure that the fat is from the right source. Like grass fed meat, eggs, A2 Casein Milk and Butter, Cheese and yoghurt etc. Realise that the body is super intelligent and if fat is a bad thing why does it store fat ? Give it a chance to use the fat which it has stored for emergencies. If there is no emergency because you are eating every few hours and not fasting, the body actually knows only to store and never use fat. It has a constant influx of glucose for energy and as soon as the glucose level in blood falls, it craves for more.
Our body's made for feasting and fasting. Give it a chance to fast as you give it food. Many of your diseases will go away as you will enjoy better health and longevity.
