The Liver and Brain Connection
Stand straight and look downwards. If you can see your stomach, then you have a fatty Liver.
The liver, besides performing so many other functions, produces glycogen to feed your brain when you are not eating. And sadly, as your liver gets fatty, its function gets impaired and you cannot feed the brain properly. There is other glycogen available but it feeds only the muscles. The fat buildup around the liver and pancreas starts the process of insulin resistance which ultimately goes on to become type 2 Diabetes.
Our brain however, is able to run even more efficiently on another fuel source called Ketones. Ketones are produced when we go on a healthy Ketogenic diet by reducing dependence on sugar and carbohydrates as well as doing intermittent fasting which simply put is eating less frequently and cutting out the snacks between meals.Essentially, when we cut down on sugar and carbohydrates, the body eventually starts burning fat for fuel and that is when Ketones are produced. Ketones not only provide you with better energy, they are a more stable source which allows you to go longer periods without eating and most importantly, without feeling hungry as often.
Interestingly, it does not take long to start the liver healing process. In fact 2-3 weeks might be enough to let your body realise that the fat stored for emergency situations which never actually arrived up to now because of eating 4-6 meals and snacks everyday is now available and can be used. The first place where the fat starts to reduce is around the liver and it starts making you insulin sensitive. As your brain gets the Ketones, much of the brain fog disappears, your mood gets elevated and your brain starts to function better. The brain function improves your memory and greatly reduces your possibility of developing brain diseases like Dementia. As we introduce intermittent fasting and go for 16 hours without eating and eat 1 or 2 meals in an eight hour window, the body keeps getting better at recycling damaged proteins and it starts reversing many dangerous body conditions like kidney, heart and artery diseases. Reduced inflammation will increase your life span as well as quality of your health. In fact many scientists and teachers in ancient times required their students to come to learn on an empty stomach to increase their mental clarity and grasping capabilities.
To reduce sugar and Carbohydrates, start with raw salads and eat more whole foods, nuts and slightly more fat. Grass fed butter, ghee and olive oil is best. Sugar must be cut completely and in modern times, most processed foods have hidden sugars like Maltodextrin which are even more dangerous than actual sugar itself.
Do your body a favor by reducing the fat and choosing wisely what you eat. Just remember eating foods like nature has made them and not the processed and canned foods and refined oils will go a long way in improving your health and longevity.
