Acid Reflux: The Real Cause and Remedy
Acid reflux is caused by an unhealthy lifestyle coupled with excess sugar and carbohydrates consumption leading to a leaky gut and lack of enough acid in the stomach causing a range of problems like indigestion and difficulty in absorbing minerals and proteins.
Unfortunately, the first prescription for Acid Reflux is an Antacid which serves to aggravate the situation by reducing the acidity in the stomach even further. Notably, our stomach is highly acidic with a PH of 2-3 and to stop acid reflux / burning sensation in the esophagus is to acidify the stomach which will serve to close the Lower esophageal valve (LES) at the end of the esophagus ultimately stopping the reflux.
Best remedies include taking Apple Cider Vinegar ½ an hour before a meal, taking supplements like Betaine Hydrochloride, Ginger Root extract and Probiotic supplements to increase the friendly bacteria in the gut.
Taking Zinc L-Carnosine serves to heal the inner tissue and restore the the mucous barrier. It has been used by Japanese to heal ulcers. Two tabs of 70 mg Zinc L-Carnosine or taking Pumpkin seeds daily (soaked in water overnight and roasted slightly) will also provide the Zinc needed.
Stress is another factor affecting acid reflux. Aim to reduce stress by practising meditation and indulging in your favourite hobbies.
Temporarily cutting down on the consumption of Tea / Coffee will also serve to heal Acid Reflux. Cut down on Grains and Processed Oils. Aim for eating whole foods and raw vegetables and salad with Apple Cider Vinegar and Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
