Food Poisoning: Symptoms and Remedial Measures
It's possible to inadvertently consume toxins, bacteria, or viruses with food which can make you sick. It can be because of improperly washed, improperly cooked or from food where added substances like ripening agents in fruits.
The symptoms can appear within a few hours and can last for up to 3 days or more. The body’s immunity (ability to fight off pathogens) and the amount or strength of pathogens consumed play a part.
Abdominal pain and diarrhoea may be the first symptoms followed by fever, headache and vomiting. Both vomiting and diarrhoea are designed by the body to get rid of toxins and if you are taking medicines to try to stop that, you may actually be trying to hamper the body’s ability to throw away unwanted material.
Taking antibiotics may work with a virus infection but it has its own side effects as antibiotics will kill the bad as well as the good bacteria. It's important to note here that vomit and diarrhoea will both eliminate water and electrolytes and their shortage can create other problems so try to hydrate and add electrolytes to replenish the lost ones.
Adding apple Cider Vinegar (1-2 spoons in a glass of water) will help acidify the stomach which in turn helps kill pathogens and it is a possibility that the pathogens were able to survive because of a low acid situation in your stomach already.
Fasting will also help as it takes off the pressure from your digestive system and taking activated Charcoal tablets will help eliminate the toxins because the charcoal acts to soak the toxins and then throw them out of the body. So it can serve as a cleanser.
