L-Glutamine: The Alcohol Connection
L-Glutamine is one of the many amino acids in the body. It performs many important functions in the body like wound healing, brain support, gut health, muscle recovery and cellular energy source.
L-Glutamine is synthesized in our body and it forms Glutamate and also Glutathione which is the master antioxidant inside our body.
There are many sources of L-Glutamine like dark leafy vegetables, eggs, meat, chicken and dairy.
Stress is a major factor depleting L-Glutamine. Also intense activity and medical conditions needing recovery may deplete the level of L-Glutamine and since it is involved in brain function, its scarcity may make you depressed or have mood swings. It therefore causes an unhappy state of mind and may be a cause of Alcohol dependency.
Ensuring optimum levels of L-Glutamine will elevate your mood and decrease your need for alcohol by providing energy to your brain which it is lacking.
If you are doing intense exercises or going through intense stress or a medical condition, besides taking a balanced diet, may consider taking it as a supplement.
Always inform your healthcare provider before taking any supplements especially if your are going through a medical condition.
