The Problem with Artificial Sweeteners
There are several things in our modern world which are specifically designed to harm our health ! Yes, that's true.
So let us start with our gut. Our gut is a home for literally trillions of bacteria. These are helpful bacteria. Its our duty to feed them to keep them alive and to live healthily in our gut in return for the service they provide us by keeping our body healthy. It is true that you are as healthy as your gut. And gut health has a direct connection with the brain.
If we have an unhealthy or as we say leaky gut it affects our health and our brain leading to several brain degeneration diseases like dementia. So if you start to forget where you have kept your keys for example, beware ! You might be heading for memory loss and other brain health issues down the road.
So what is the problem with artificial sweeteners ? Our gut bacteria do not like them and start to die. A bottle of diet coke can actually do you much harm when it comes to gut health. As also with antibiotics. Antibiotics are designed to kill bacteria.
The pathogenic bacteria so to say. But they end up killing the good bacteria too. That is why if you are on antibiotics your doctor should advise you to take pre and probiotics to keep a check on the depleted bacteria.
By taking artificial sweeteners you are also tricking your brain by letting it perform some tasks which are not required. For example releasing enzymes to digest the sweet which never arrives. And those enzymes keep you wanting for more. So you have an actual problem of satiety and can end up eating more than you need to.
It is therefore necessary that you act intelligently and do not do things to harm your body. Eat healthy foods and try to provide fibre to the gut bacteria they thrive on. If you are on a holiday and are indulging in fried and unhealthy processed foods, add Inulin Powder (sprinkle over food or mix it with juice, yoghurt …anything) to keep your gut bacteria satisfied.
Avoid artificial Sweeteners. For that matter, we actually shun anything artificial. Artificial colors…. are they a good option to add to food? So act wisely, eat healthy and your body will live and keep you healthy for many years to come.
