Skimmed Milk: Good or Bad ?

Often we are told that fat is bad for health. Fat can get deposited in our veins. Fat will raise cholesterol. And there come the non fat versions like Low Fat Yoghurt, Low fat foods and we are told to eat the egg white which is protein and discard the yellow because it contains fat. The same with Milk. Skimmed milk is milk from which cream or fat has been removed. And yet, nothing can be far from the truth. Not that eating too much fat is good for you. After all fat is a form of energy even if it is more stable than sugar or glucose but too much can contribute to fat gain. But that does not mean fat is bad. Our body is intelligent and will not do anything which is bad for us. And we make Cholesterol. So Cholesterol must be something essential for our survival.

So we come to the topic of Milk again. Milk contains protein, fat, lactose, colostrum, calcium and magnesium besides some others. And whole milk will be digested more slowly due to its fat content. When we remove the fat, which is probably the most important ingredient of milk, we expose and increase the content of lactose and carbohydrates and as a result, it is converted into sugar very quickly and will contribute to insulin surge and equally quickly its fall. The same thing happens with eggs. As a whole, an egg is one of the most complete foods (sourced from free range naturally fed hens) which gives us a host of vitamins and minerals. When we remove the yolk, we are left with the egg white which is mostly protein. Absorbed quickly and converted equally fast to body tissue and sugar.

Try to stick to the foods as nature made them. They will provide more and longer lasting benefits. Drink the milk whole.
